Enabling TrueCrypt Encryption in Windows
| If you are running Windows , this is how you can enable TrueCrypt encryption. TrueCrypt provides more powerful
encryption than what is built into Windows. |
Go to TrueCrypt's website and download the latest version of the program. Click the download button under "Windows Vista/XP/2000/2003" |
![]() |
A window will pop up asking you to save the a file -- save it some place where you can find it again and wait for the download to finish. |
Now locate the
file you downloaded. It should look like a folder with a zipper running
up the front. |
|
Double
click on this folder to open it, then select "Extract All Files" from
the left hand menu or from the File menu. |
![]() |
This
will open the "Extraction Wizard", just click through it, hitting
"Next" or "Finish" every time. This will open up a folder: double click
TrueCrypt Setup.exe to start installing TrueCrypt. |
![]() |
This will launch an installer window click
"Next" in the lower right hand corner of the window. When it has been
installed it will tell you so: |
![]() |
Once you click OK, True Crypt will ask you if you want to read the Tutorial. If you prefer to continue finish this walk through using that PDF click yes otherwise follow the official tutorial here to create your first encrypted container. Remember to start on Step 2. |
