How do I get a Campus
ID Account?
Current students are issued a Campus account at the Help Desk after they have been accepted and enrolled in classes. We cannot issue you a
Campus account if you are not currently registered for classes at UMF.
All faculty and staff are issued a Campus account following processing of a contract with the University.
What Does My Campus Account Get Me?
Your Campus account grants you access to campus computing resources, including our 24-hour lab, and eCampus, our campus intranet.
What is eCampus?
eCampus is UMFs internal site for staff, faculty, and students. On the serious side of things, you can find your class schedule, access to your e-mail account, course registration information. eCampus also includes some infotainment items like the current forecast for any US city, links to daily news stories from over 100 sources, the current Farmington movie listings, and a library of free, open source books and old-time radio shows.
How Do I Get My Campus Account?
You can pick up your Campus ID and password by dropping by the Computer Center's Help Desk at 117 South Street. Please bring photo ID with you.
Where Do I Use It?
Any of our campus computing locations except for Ricker's Computer Science lab. You must be enrolled in a computer science class for access to that department's lab resources.
Do I Need It If I Already Own a Computer?
It is possible that you may never need to log on to the
Campus network while at UMF. Here are some reasons you may want to have your
Campus account: Your computer or printer might break. You may want to get into our campus intranet eCampus. Your professor might bring your class to a computer lab, or you may want to make an academic or personal web site. It's a good idea to pick up your Campus ID account just in case any of these things happen while you're a student at UMF.
Help! My Campus Account Isn't Working...
Stop by or call the Computer Center's Help Desk at (207) 778-7300 for
Campus troubleshooting help (please note we cannot give or reset passwords over the phone).
Can I Have More Space on My H: Drive
Sure thing! As long as you need the extra space for academic purposes. Drop by the Help Desk to tell us why, and we'll increase your H: Drive space within our capacity.
Can I Access My H: Drive from Off-Campus?
Yes! You can remotely access your H: drive via the H Drive Access link under the Tools menu of eCampus (requires your
Campus ID and password).
Does My Campus Account Ever Expire?
You will have access to your Campus account as long as you are a student at the University of Maine at Farmington. After you graduate, your account will remain active for about a month.
Does It Cost Any Money?
No. It's another benefit of paying UMF's tuition.
What's the Difference Between
Campus ID and Email?
Your Campus account grants you access to on-campus computing resources - lab machines and eCampus, for instance. Your e-mail account grants you access to UMaine System-wide services such as your e-mail account, Blackboard, PeopleSoft, and dial-up access.
How Can I Change My
Campus Password?
Campus account passwords can be changed by using the Password Change Utility under the Tools menu of eCampus. This will also change your eCampus password immediately.
What if I Can't Remember My
Campus ID Password?
Stop by the Help Desk to get a fresh print-out of your originally assigned password. If you've changed your password, we can reset it to the original password you were assigned when your account was first created.
What's The Public.www Folder?
The public.www folder is a special folder within your H:\ drive that allows you to publish web pages to http://students.umf.maine.edu/. Once you have placed an index.htm or index.html file in your public.www folder, your name will be published on the list of students with web pages and your site will become active. This process happens nightly, so if you drop the file in your public.www folder, you'll have to wait until after midnight for your site to become live.
