Off-Campus Dial Up and Broadband Access

UNET Free Dial-up Access

UNET (the University of Maine System Network) provides state-wide internet access via modem for students, staff, and faculty of the UMaine System. It is important to note that this is not a service provided or maintained by UMF and, in most cases, we will refer you to UNET's technical support should you experience trouble dialing in.

UNET Technical Support can be reached at: 1-800-696-4357.

Keeping that in mind, here are answers to some frequently asked questions.

What is the local UNET dial in number for Farmington?
778-8300

Is there a charge for dialing in?
No, dial-in access is free to students, staff, and faculty - though you are limited to 100 hours per month.

If you use up your allotment of 100 hours, you will simply be denied access when you try to dial in the next time. Your allotment will be replenished on the first of each month. Unused hours do not roll over to the following months.

What is my username and password?
To log in, you must use your UNET e-mail ID and password. This is generally your firstname.lastname. Your password would be the same password you use to check your e-mail account.

Note: Your Campus ID and password will not allow you to access this system.

Where can I get more information?
UNET provides a number of useful web pages with information about setting up a dial-up account on your machine, how many modems are in use, and what other modem numbers are across the state.
